5 imagesI was awarded a carte de compétences et talents, or artist visa, to create artistic work of a lasting nature in France. I live in a tiny, medieval village called Cabris, near the country's perfume center. These images are of, from and within the octagonal 16th century chapelle St-Jean-Baptiste, which inadvertently changed my life, literally, by "giving" me a deeper acceptance of my perspective, which includes an affinity with space and, therefore, my voice. Because it's closed to the public and I was curious, I asked to photograph the inside and when I went in, heard its amazing acoustics, its voice, and ended up composing music, recording CDs and going on a concert tour in France and the US this summer, The American Echoes Tour, an unexpected adventure. Though charming, the chapel is naturally dark and monochromatic; these show you how I experience it: colorful, full of joy, and connected to the flower world of Provence, its ubiquitous olive groves, and the village. The woman is the chapel's statue of Saint Cecelia, the patron saint of music. These images have been shown throughout the US concert tour and were part of our successful Kickstarter campaign to produce the CD, Les Audides.
8 imagesGenus: Wonder Fashion is often seen as superfluous to our everyday lives and flowers viewed as mere decorations. In some ways, we can be ashamed to love the two of them, though for many women, looking at beauty and having it present in our lives is deeply nourishing. Here's how I see it. Women can adorn themselves any way we want; we aren't beholden to a blueprint of nature that forces us to "bloom" in a certain way. We have a range of gesture, mood, emotion and movement, thank you, and it's awfully simple if one looks around. Those old paradigms of women being "too" changeable are beyond outdated; they say nothing about the scope of our expression or the transformational nature of our being. We can express ourselves with complete aesthetic freedom, the way flowers show us. No guilt here, instead, precise, specific colors, textures and forms that mirror aspects of our lives. Genus Wonder classifies our feminine nature as the wildly expressive and profoundly beautiful creatures that we are: limitless.
26 imagesYou can order any image you like from any gallery on my site, of course! But if you're in a hurry or you are located near me in France and would like to see the art in person, I have these in physical form where they are their most gorgeous. It's a range of framed, unframed, fine art prints and posters, and various sizes. All work is signed.
